Full-Time and Part-Time Courses Ages 3-21

We’re a POWERHOUSE in all-round Musical Theatre training, here to enable talent to train and benefit from theatre.

Thank you for adding us to your research list and a very warm welcome to our home.

Our story begins in 2009 when I founded Emil Dale Academy with 100 flyers, 22 part time students and a small rented primary school hall in Hitchin.

I believed there was a need for genuine (not just in a prospectus), all-round triple threat musical theatre training, with high contact hours, realistic year groups sizes, and where student experience would be at the forefront of everything.

From its inception, I decided we would only offer all-round triple threat musical theatre training, with no other courses in any other disciplines. Every student on every Emil Dale Academy full-time course would get a private weekly singing lesson for all three terms of the year. We would concentrate on going above and beyond in everything we would do and now the results really do speak for themselves!

Today we train people from all over the world (I still pinch myself); we have incredible student progression and are recognised as a new, progressive, inclusive, and outstanding training institution with one focus: all round training.

There are so many amazing places to train at in the UK and I am honoured that you are considering us to help guide you towards a successful future in the performing arts industry.

To put it simply, we are big enough to count but small enough to care. We take singing as seriously as acting as seriously as dancing, so if you are serious about all-round triple threat musical theatre training, then seriously consider us.

New State-of-the-Art Facility in Letchworth

Emil Dale Academy, a trailblazer in performing arts education, proudly announces its relocation to a ground-breaking multi-million-pound facility in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. This significant move, just a 30 minute train ride from London, marks a transformative moment for both the academy and local community.

The new facility, situated in the heart of the historic town, spans an impressive 56,000 square foot over two stories in the landmark location in town.

Featuring 17 studios, including dedicated and multi-purpose spaces for singing, acting, dance (including ballet & tap studios), and musical theatre training, the facility also includes a costume and props workshop, 8 private 1-to-1 singing rooms, a content creation studio for multi-cam performances and two fully equipped on-site theatres, with access to a third 450 seater theatre across the road, ideal for regular productions across all disciplines.

This renovation is a testament to innovation and excellence, underscoring Emil Dale Academy's commitment to redefining the standards of all-round, world-class musical theatre training.

Located in the picturesque town of Letchworth Garden City, the academy's new location is surrounded by lush Edwardian gardens and green spaces, providing an inspirational setting for artistic pursuits. Its strategic placement, just a 5-minute walk from the train station, ensures convenient access, with a short 30-minute train ride to London, facilitating seamless connectivity for students and professionals.

Founder Emil Dale expressed, "The unveiling of our new home in Letchworth is a pivotal moment for Emil Dale Academy. With 56,000 square feet of space—more than double the size of our previous location—we are well-equipped to deliver world-class training in all-round musical theatre. The new facilities reinforce our commitment to setting new standards in performing arts education."

In addition to the world-class training facilities, the new Emil Dale Academy features a food & relaxation lounge, coffee bar, library, props and costume workshop, new mind-focus areas, inside and outside social spaces for students & staff, including a private garden, and giant rehearsal rooms. These amenities not only enhance the student and staff experience but also provide an extensive and inspiring environment for artistic growth.

There has never been a better time to be training at Emil Dale Academy.

Testimonials

Hear what our students have to say about their experience

The Emil Dale graduate list is so impressive. So many names going into West End shows, national tours, TV and films. It’s a testament to how respected this college is across the industry.

The first few weeks were a shock—long days, tough classes—but my son has completely flourished. He’s grown so much, not just in performance, but in how he handles challenges.

EDA doesn’t just train great performers—they mentor whole people. My daughter has learned how to handle pressure, stay organised, and stay mentally strong.

I was really impressed by the third-year opportunities. Full-scale musicals, a live London showcase, and a London agent panel day all in one year? It’s more than many other colleges.

When I see 'Emil Dale' on a CV, I know I’m getting someone who’s trained properly. These students are driven, versatile, and prepared. Emil Dale doesn’t spread itself thin—they specialise in doing one thing brilliantly: all-round musical theatre training. They’re not trying to appeal to everyone, just to those who are serious. And it shows.
